3-hour guided tour around the historic centre of Florence with our Local Expert Guide:
Visit the beautiful city centre: Your tour will begin from the Santa Maria Novella Square, then to
the famous Duomo (internal visit). Behind the Duomo, You'll find the beautiful Bell tower and Baptistery (external visits). Then You’ll discover Piazza della Signoria with its Fountain of Neptune (Florentines mocked it as The big whitey) and in the middle of the square, the Old Palace (Palazzo Vecchio), that looks either like a fortress disguised as a palace or a palace trying to be a fort. Near the fountain You can see a small disk which marks the spot where the famous Dominican Monk Savonarola was executed.
By the arcades of the Uffizi Gallery You’ll go to Ponte Vecchio. There You can relax along jewellery shops. At the end of this tour You'll visit inside the Basilica of Santa Croce (Basilica of the Holy Cross), the world’s largest Franciscan church, which is significant both for its architecture and for what (and whom) it contains
In Pisa You can admire the famous square, whose real name is Piazza del Duomo, is often improperly called Campo dei Miracoli, even by such famous people as the Italian writer Gabriele D’Annunzio. One of the most evocative and striking urban layouts in the world, at first sight the visitor is struck with marvel at the view surpassing description of the finest expressions of religious art the city has to offer, perfect in their geometric and spatial synchrony and rising, as if by magic, from a soft green lawn. On two sides the turreted walls of the Republic, one of the best preserved of medieval circuits, testifying to the power achieved by the city, act as an ideal backdrop. The splendour of the candid marble, the precious intarsias and inlays, the movement created by the arches, the loggias, the columns, the aediculas and the statues lend an almost unreal, fascinating dimension, enlivened by a varicoloured composite throng of tourists who linger till late in the evening, until the square finally stands almost deserted with the moonlight bathing the transparent beauty of the monuments. There seem to be reasons to believe that the site of the present piazza was considered a sacred area as far back as Etruscan times.
