GENOVA:
Once a mighty maritime republic and the birthplace of Cristoforo Colombo the city has a labyrinth of narrow alleys at the heart of the old city, near the port. Genova was founded in the IV century BC and possibily derives its name from the Latin Ianua (door). Aside from the cosmopolitan street life, the highlights of the town are the Cattedrale di San Lorenzo with its fabulous treasury, small medieval churches such as San Donato and Santa Maria di Castello and the Renaissance palazzi that contain Genoa's art collections and furniture and decor from the grandest days of the city's illustrious past
PORTOFINO:
Portofino, is known as the resort of the rich and famous, but there is much more to see here than just people. Portofino is a picturesque, seaside village with shops, restaurants, cafes, and luxury hotels. A castle sits atop the hill overlooking the village. To the south, above the harbor, is the church of San Giorgio, from which there is another beautiful view of Portofino. There are also opportunities for hiking, diving, and boating. The town's natural harbour supported a fleet of fishing boats, but was somewhat too cramped to provide more than a temporary safe haven for the growing merchant marine of the Republic of Genoa.
CASTELLO BROWN:
Castle Brown overlooks, from above the Gulf of Tigullio, the seafaring village of Portofino, one of the most beautiful and famous places in the world, which has become, since the 1950s, the symbol of the Dolce Vita, and has always been attracting artists, intellectuals, noblemen, kings and simple traveller. Castle Brown, with its mediterrenean garden rich of flowers, pegolas and rose gardens together with a breathtaking view over the bay, is a museum with bas-reliefs and revivalist architectural features in marble and slate, "cuenca" majolica tiles, lacunars with painted tiles, lumbardy cross vaults, a great triptych from the Sixteenth century attributed to Raffaellino and Giulio De Rossi (1514-1572 / 1551-1591) and a figured architrave in carved marble from the Thriteenth century.
